Local Transportation for STAR and WAPMDS Invited Speakers and all delegates of FSTTCS


To facilitate a smooth arrival and departure for all delegates, the conference local arrangements committee can schedule pickups and drops to/fro from the following stations:
  1. Lucknow Airport : Immediately outside the exit gate of the airport hall. There is only one exit gate so there is no confusion.
  2. Kanpur Airport : Immediately outside the exit gate of the airport hall. There is only one exit gate so there is no confusion.
  3. Kanpur Central Railway Station : Immediately outside the main door marked Exit (Nikas in Hindi) at PLATFORM NUMBER 1, by the curb/roadside. From the tracks/platform, take the overbridge or underground tunnel towards Platform Number 1. [ DO NOT go to the other exit on Platform No 8.]
The conference committee will schedule car(s) to be sent to pick up/drop delegates from one of the above points. The drivers in the cars will pickup the delegates from the appointed locations at the stations. For pickup, the drivers will carry the name and affiliation of the person(s) they are supposed to pickup. They will stand at the appointed location with a placard that has FSTTCS 2009/IIT Kanpur marked on it. To save fuel, we will try to car-pool pickups and drops for delegates on flights/trains that are arriving/departing closeby.

The charges can be shared among all the passengers. The driver can give you a receipt if you ask for it.

Invited speakers for the main FSTTCS conference/STAR workshop may send an e-mail with arrival/departure details to fsttcs@cse.iitk.ac.in. No payment is required.

Invited speakers for the WAPMDS conference may send an email with arrival/departure details to sganguly@cse.iitk.ac.in. No payment is required.

For all others: to avail of this service, you have to enter your arrival departure detailed information, including flight/train number, arrival point, arrival date/time in your registration page of FSTTCS.

You must enter or update arrival and/or departure information in your FSTTCS registration page latest by the 5th of December, 2009. We will send you confirmation of pickup and drop as scheduled. For those who have already submitted arrival departure information, we will be sending out pickup/drop confirmations by the end of November.

We will accommodate changes to pickup schedules that are made until 5th December. After that, we will do our best to schedule pickups/drops but may not be able to guarantee it.

Terms of service for pickup and drop.
  1. Invited speakers do not have to pay for pickup and drop.
  2. All others who wish to avail of this service have to pay the driver upon arrival/departure as the case may be.

      Waiting charges in case the incoming train/flight is delayed are calculated as follows.
      From your scheduled arrival time until you meet the driver, if the elapsed time is less than 1 hour, there are no charges. After that, for every hour or part thereof of waiting on the part of the driver, the waiting charge is Rs 30 per hour.
      The driver will wait for you for a maximum of one hour from the time that the arrival of your train/flight is announced over the public address.

      For cancellation and significant schedule changes: You are not liable for any charges for pickup if the car intended for picking you up has not started its journey. If a car has been sent for pickup then you will be liable for up to the amount of full charges of the pickup.
