IITK Workshop on Algorithms for Processing Massive Data Sets
December 18 to 20, 2009,
Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kanpur, India

Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kanpur is pleased to announce the IITK Workshop on Algorithms for Processing Massive Data Sets which will bring together leading experts in the field of massive data analysis to discuss and share ideas on the subject.

Aim and Scope of the Workshop :

There has been a spectacular advance in our capability to acquire data and in many cases the data may arrive very rapidly. Applications processing this data have caused a renewed focus on efficiency issues of algorithms. Further, many applications can work with approximate answers and/or with probabilistic guarantees. This opens up the area of design of algorithms that are significantly time and space efficient compared to their exact counterparts. The 2009 Workshop on Algorithms for Processing Massive Data Sets will address the algorithmic issues and mathematical foundations of massive data analysis. It brings together a group of leading world-class researchers to discuss cutting-edge research and ideas in the areas of algorithms for data streams, matrix computations, compressed sensing, etc.

The workshop will be held in the campus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and is a post-FSTTCS workshop. It is planned as a three-day event and consists of only invited talks from leading experts on the subject. Due to the in-depth nature of the workshop and to encourage discussion, participation in the workshop is limited. Registration for the workshop may be done at the FSTTCS registration site.
