KD102

Algebraic independence is a generalization of the concept of linear independence which appears naturally in many areas of mathematics like algebra, algebraic geometry, algebraic matroid theory and also has applications, for example, in circuit complexity and control theory. In this talk, we will briefly look at a few TCS specific applications and focus on the computational question i.e. how to test algebraic independence? The talk will be self-contained and thus, accessible to all.
